Skiing and Cross‑Country Skiing

🎿 Skiing Near the Pension

Just 4 km from the pension is Ski Areál Nýrsko, which we highly recommend, especially for families with children. You will find a blue slope, a children’s lift, ski rental and service, a children’s ski school, night skiing, refreshments, parking and Wi‑Fi.

Prices are very reasonable and the area is perfect for relaxed family skiing.

⛸️ Ice Skating in Nýrsko

In Nýrsko you will also find a public ice rink, which is very well maintained. There are toilets and a small snack bar on site. Children can use plastic support frames free of charge to help them learn to skate.

➡️ Entry is allowed only with skates (entry in regular shoes is prohibited).

Current public skating times can be found here:

🎿 Skiing for Children and Beginners

In addition to the ski area in Nýrsko, we recommend these two family‑friendly resorts:

🏔 Weissova louka (21 km)

The best choice in the area if you want to enrol children in a ski school. The excellent School4fun operates here, with many friendly instructors rotating throughout the day.

The area offers two lifts (one for complete beginners), refreshments, ski rental, and night skiing.

🏔 Alpalouka (23 km)

A small, quiet resort ideal for children and families with the youngest skiers. The main lift is a button lift, and the slope is gentle and pleasant. You’ll also find refreshments and the option of ski lessons.

Lift ticket prices are among the lowest in the Železná Ruda region.

⛷️ Skiing for More Advanced Skiers

🚡 Ski Areál Špičák (22 km)

  • four‑seater chairlift with a boarding conveyor (1,272 m)
    • a 400 m long snowpark
    • several shorter slopes in the area

🎿 Nad nádražím – Belveder, Železná Ruda (25 km)

A connected ski area offering 5 lifts and 7 slopes (4 red, 3 blue), with the option to ski over the hill on a single ski pass.

🇩🇪 Skiing in the Bavarian Forest (Germany)

🏔 Großer Arber – “The Great Arber” (36 km)

The highest mountain of the Šumava/Bavarian Forest on the German side – 1,456 m a.s.l.

The area offers:
• 9 slopes of all difficulty levels
• a cable car
• two drag lifts
• a 6‑seater chairlift
• a 500 m snowboard valley

A perfect choice for families as well as experienced skiers. Compared to Špičák, Arber offers more reliable snow conditions.
