Černé jezero and Čertovo jezero

20 minpushchairs: yes (Černé)easyall year

The largest glacial lake in Šumava — an easy walk to the water that a pushchair will manage.

About the place

Černé jezero is the largest glacial lake in Šumava and one of the most popular outings around here — deservedly. The walk is lovely, easy, and small children manage it.

The woods around are quiet and pleasant; children are often kept busy collecting cones or watching ants. The gentle gradient makes it worth bringing a balance bike, scooter or bicycle for them.

Parking
Špičácké sedlo, the large car park by the Hotel Karl (on maps as Parkoviště Špičácké sedlo).
Waymarking
Yellow, from the car park to Černé jezero.
To Černé jezero
3.5 km each way on a made-up path, suitable for pushchairs. About halfway there are wooden benches for a snack.
To Čertovo jezero
2.5 km further, but the path is steep, stony and full of roots — for children from about 6, and not for pushchairs at all.
The longer circuit
8.5 km: yellow to Čertovo jezero (2.5 km), red to Černé (2.5 km) and yellow back to Špičácké sedlo (3.5 km).
