The walk up to Pajrek

7 minpushchairs: nofor children who can walkwoods + castle ruin

A castle ruin just above Nýrsko — a short climb through the woods, rewarded with a castle and a view.

About the place

Pajrek is what remains of a castle near the village of Stará Lhota, not far from Nýrsko. It was built on the northern side of the Hraničář hill, and what is left of it is now a protected monument. The place is quiet, and joins history to the Šumava woods rather nicely.

Parking
At the sports ground below the ski slope, or a little further on at the Forest Theatre in Nýrsko. Both are close to the start.
Waymarking
Green, from the car park through the woods to the ruin.
How hard
A short route, steeper in places, otherwise easy going.
With children
Not suitable for pushchairs. Smaller children who can manage a climb usually walk it happily — mostly for the sake of the “castle” at the end.
Getting back
The same way, on the green waymarks.
