A castle ruin just above Nýrsko — a short climb through the woods, rewarded with a castle and a view.
About the place
Pajrek is what remains of a castle near the village of Stará Lhota, not far from Nýrsko. It was built on the northern side of the Hraničář hill, and what is left of it is now a protected monument. The place is quiet, and joins history to the Šumava woods rather nicely.
- Parking
- At the sports ground below the ski slope, or a little further on at the Forest Theatre in Nýrsko. Both are close to the start.
- Waymarking
- Green, from the car park through the woods to the ruin.
- How hard
- A short route, steeper in places, otherwise easy going.
- With children
- Not suitable for pushchairs. Smaller children who can manage a climb usually walk it happily — mostly for the sake of the “castle” at the end.
- Getting back
- The same way, on the green waymarks.
