About the place
Velhartice is often called the most romantic castle in Šumava. It stands between Klatovy and Sušice on a rocky spur above the little river Ostružná, and the atmosphere really is exceptional — above all because of that stone bridge, which you will not see anywhere else.

- The Gothic Rajský palác, the residential defensive tower Putna, a Renaissance chateau, and the stone bridge joining the two main parts of the castle.

- The castle brewery with interactive displays, and an open-air museum of vernacular architecture in the outer bailey.

- U hradního sládka in the lower courtyard. Castle restaurants are usually a lottery; this one is an exception.
