We support producers from Šumava (the Bohemian Forest). A tasting basket made up entirely of Šumava produce — or, if you prefer, a first shop for the fridge, ready when you arrive.
- What is in it
- Nothing but produce made in the Šumava region, natural, with no chemical additives or preservatives. The suppliers are family businesses and we are regular customers of theirs ourselves.
- When we deliver
- Tuesday to Friday, in the afternoon. We keep to the days the local producers make their goods, so that the basket is fresh.
- How to order
- A few days before you arrive you will get an information e-mail, which is where the basket is ordered. Write to us at info@usebastiana.cz or give us a call and we will put a basket together for you. It cannot be added to the booking itself — what is available changes with the season.
- How long it lasts
- Certainly longer than a single breakfast or supper.
- Price
- 700 CZK per basket.

Šumavská mlékárna — the dairy
The dairy is part of Šumavský Statek Dlouhá Ves, a farm near Sušice. Around 800 litres of milk are processed here every day, from the farm's own herd of Czech Red Pied cows. Seasonal grazing and the care taken over the animals — every cow has a name — show in the quality of the milk and of everything made from it.
Farma u Babků — the eggs
The farm is run by the Babek family from Starý Láz. Their hens range freely and keep the same hours, day and night, that hens kept in our grandparents' time. They are fed on grain and ground cereals with no additives or medication of any kind; both the feeding and the collecting of eggs are done by hand.
The Toman family bee farm, Nýrsko — the honey
Ladislav Toman has kept bees since 1974 and has taught beekeeping since 1982, training beekeepers across the country. He also breeds queens in a pedigree programme and keeps 150 production colonies. The hives stand in the woods of the Šumava foothills between Dešenice and Hodousice, in the Královský Hvozd part of the Šumava protected landscape area, and in the Šumava village of Městiště. The honey is certified organic.
Turnerova chata, Rejštejn — the bilberries
The only publicly accessible mountain lodge in zone I of the Šumava National Park, on the bank of the Vydra between Antýgl and Čeňkova Pila. They pick mushrooms and fruit by hand in the surrounding woods and make jam from it — bilberry, raspberry, blackberry and mixtures of the three, with no preservatives or colouring. The high fruit content qualifies them as "extra jam".
